Netflix Proxy

A Netflix proxy routes traffic to the Netflix website through an IP in the country you choose, so you see plan, pricing and marketing pages as visitors there do. It is for regional research and QA; watching another country’s catalog breaks Netflix’s terms and Netflix blocks it.

Which proxy when?

Sticky or static proxies suit long sessions and account consistency; rotating proxies fit high-volume crawling and distributed requests. Pick the closest product below.

IPv6 proxy packages are a cost-effective option, but the target site must support IPv6. You can check whether a site supports IPv6 with the IPv6 Checker. If you need help, contact our support team.

What is a Netflix proxy used for?

A Netflix proxy sends traffic to the Netflix website out through an IP address in the country you choose instead of your own connection. Netflix changes its landing pages, plan and pricing pages, language options and marketing content based on the country of the connection. A proxy lets you control that country signal. It does not change the account’s registered country, payment details or licensing rights.

This page covers the use of a Netflix proxy not for watching another country’s catalog, but for the following legitimate jobs:

  • Regional pricing and plan research. Seeing which plans Netflix offers in different countries, in which currency and with which descriptions. Basic work for market research and competitive analysis teams.
  • Marketing page and ad checks. Verifying that a show’s promo page, campaign visuals or digital ads run on behalf of Netflix appear in the target country with the right language and content.
  • Localization and subtitle QA. Letting translation, dubbing and subtitle partners working with Netflix check the language and regional view of public pages.
  • Network and access tests. Measuring access times from a given country to Netflix’s web pages and speed test service.

For the general framework of these jobs, see the market research and ad verification use cases. For other streaming platforms there are the YouTube proxy and Twitch proxy pages.

Can you watch another country’s Netflix catalog with a proxy?

Short answer: you should not, and we make no promise that it will work. The Netflix catalog differs from country to country because shows and films are licensed per country. The Netflix Terms of Use state that content may be watched primarily in the country where the account was established and only in regions where it is licensed, and say that Netflix may use technology to verify your location.

Netflix actively blocks streaming through proxies and VPNs. On playback requests from known proxy and VPN addresses, the user sees an error message saying they seem to be using an “unblocker or proxy”, and can only access content licensed for their actual country. Using a residential or mobile IP does not change this permanently; Netflix can update its detection methods and also uses other signals on the account.

Therefore:

  • WeProxy products are not sold for streaming Netflix and are not guaranteed to work for that purpose.
  • Accessing the licensed catalog from outside your region usually violates Netflix’s rules and can lead to account restrictions.
  • The jobs described in the sections below are research and testing work on public pages that does not require playback.

Which proxy type should I choose for Netflix?

Most legitimate Netflix-related jobs happen on public pages and need no login. What matters is that the IP looks like a real home or mobile connection in the target country and does not change during the session.

Datacenter IPs are the addresses Netflix is most likely to recognize as a proxy or hosting source. Even for public page research, residential or mobile IPs give results closer to what a real visitor sees. For the general differences between proxy types, read the residential, mobile, datacenter and ISP proxy comparison.

How do you research Netflix pricing and plan pages by country?

Netflix plan names, prices, currency, tax display and the ad-supported plan option vary by country. The ad-supported plan is only offered in some countries. For teams researching prices, a reliable comparison means recording each country’s page as a visitor in that country sees it.

The right method:

  1. Open a separate browser profile for each country. Cookies and earlier visits can affect the language and region shown.
  2. Match IP, language and time zone. For research on Germany, the IP should be in Germany, the browser language de-DE and the time zone Europe/Berlin. Mismatched settings can make the page open in a different language or region.
  3. Work logged out. Plan and pricing pages need no login. Do not do research with your personal account.
  4. Use a sticky session. The page and its resources should load from the same IP; if the IP changes between requests, the region signal can get mixed. The sticky vs rotating proxy guide explains how this works.
  5. Log results with dates. Keep the screenshot, country, IP and date in a sheet. Prices change periodically.

The comparison sheet should contain at least these fields: country, exit IP and carrier, the language the page opened in, plan names, currency shown, whether the price includes tax, whether an ad-supported plan exists, and the check date. If you want to recheck the same country on different days from the same IP, use a static residential IP; that way any difference comes from the page, not the connection.

Details on country and city targeting are in the proxy geo-targeting guide. Netflix’s Terms of Use restrict access to the service by robots, scrapers or similar automated means, so do pricing checks manually and infrequently. If you see a 403 or 429 response, stop; for what they mean, see the proxy error codes guide.

How do you check Netflix marketing pages and ads?

Agencies running a show’s promo campaign verify that Netflix’s public title and campaign pages, and the promo ads on social media and video platforms, appear correctly in the target country. The same method applies: target-country IP, matching language and time zone, logged-out profile and logging. For ad checks on video platforms, the steps on the YouTube proxy page can also be used.

How do you run Netflix localization and subtitle QA?

Translation, subtitle and dubbing partners working with Netflix use Netflix’s own partner tools and processes for delivery and quality control. Subtitle and audio track tests during playback should go through these official channels. A proxy does not replace them.

Where a proxy helps in localization QA is the public layer:

  • Checking which language the landing page and plan pages open in for the target country, and which options the language selector offers.
  • Verifying that the show name, description and visuals on public title pages appear in the local version.
  • Seeing from different regions whether the page layout breaks with right-to-left languages or long translations.

If you work on the Turkish market, WeProxy’s Türkiye static residential IPv4 packages use IPs on the Türk Telekom and Vodafone networks and support HTTP and SOCKS5. Türkiye packages have no UDP; web page checks run over TCP, so this is not a limitation.

If the browser profile has a WebRTC or DNS leak, the page can also see your real location and the result gets mixed. To check, see the DNS leak and WebRTC guide.

How do you run Netflix network tests with a proxy?

Netflix delivers content through its own content delivery network called Open Connect, and some of its servers sit directly inside internet service providers’ networks. Netflix’s speed test service, fast.com, also measures speed to these servers. In network and access tests, a proxy can be used to observe page access times from a specific country or carrier.

Points to watch:

  • A proxy adds an extra network hop to the traffic. The measured time includes the path between the proxy server and the target; it is not identical to the end user’s direct experience.
  • To repeat speed and latency measurements from the same IP, use static residential IPv4. If the IP changes on every measurement, results cannot be compared.
  • Tests involving video or large files consume traffic. On rotating products billed per GB the quota drops fast; for regular tests, static residential with unlimited traffic per IP is more predictable.
  • Browsers usually use TCP instead of QUIC through a proxy; take this into account when comparing measurements with a direct connection.

How do you set up a Netflix proxy?

  1. Choose the product. For pricing and marketing page research, Rotating Residential IPv4 or Premium Rotating Residential; for long-running QA and network tests, Static Residential IPv4.
  2. Get the details from the panel. After payment, host, port, username and password appear in the customer panel. You can also authorize with an IP whitelist instead of username/password; both work on HTTP and SOCKS5.
  3. Enter them in your tool. In a browser profile, antidetect browser or the test tool you use, set the proxy type (HTTP or SOCKS5), host, port, username and password. To convert between formats, use the proxy format converter.
  4. Verify the exit. In the My IP tool, check that the IP, country and carrier are what you expect. From the command line:
curl -x "http://USER:PASSWORD@HOST:PORT" https://api.ipify.org
  1. Run the first test. Open the Netflix landing page in a logged-out profile, check that the page appears in the target country’s language and region, and save a screenshot of the plan page with the date and country.

What rules and limits apply when using a Netflix proxy?

The Netflix Terms of Use provide for content to be watched in the country where the account was established and in regions where it is licensed; accessing the licensed catalog from another region by masking your location usually violates these terms. Netflix actively blocks streaming through proxies and VPNs. The terms also restrict access to the service by robots, scrapers or similar automated means.

What a proxy cannot do:

  • It does not enable watching another country’s catalog on Netflix, and no guarantee is given for this.
  • It gives no protection against account restrictions or playback errors.
  • It does not change the account’s registered country, payment method or plan price.

The purposes for which WeProxy services may be used are set out in the acceptable use policy.
